No Luck, Chuck

Growing up, my friends and I had a name for people who always seemed to draw the short end of the stick: “No-luck Chuck.”

You know the person. If something bad is going to happen, you can bet it’s going to happen to them. When it comes to dining out, one of my sisters was the “No-luck Chuck.” Without fail, something went wrong with her meal, and it had to be sent back.

As part of my preparation for last February’s HeartStrong Faith Women’s Bible Conference, I listened to the New Testament on my Bible app over and over for several months, and here is my conclusion.

The Apostle Paul was the ultimate “No-luck Chuck.”

Persecuted by former friends and colleagues. Whipped. Stoned. Starved. Shipwrecked three times. Bitten by a viper. And yet, Paul described his ministry as victorious. Why?

God turns tragedy into gospel-saturated triumph.

It’s been a little over a year since the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Things are slowly getting back to normal, but I think we’ve all felt like a “No-luck Chuck.” But that which was true for Paul is true for us.

This short video clip offers a closer look at how God turns the tables on our troubles. I pray that it blesses you. The fact that you’ve stopped by my little corner of the web blesses me tremendously.

Much love and many blessings, Rebecca Carrell
