Psalm 37:18-19 – Day by day the LORD takes care of the innocent, and they will receive a reward that lasts forever.  They will survive through hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough.

I know so many people who’ve come on hard times over the past year or so.  In one family, both parents lost their jobs within four months of each other.  Another family I know went from a $750K house to food stamps.  Couples who thought this would be the year they retire are strapping on their boots and heading back to work.  Couples who had been retired for the last few years have watch their life savings dwindle away.

Jesus didn’t say if storms come…He said when.  This is a good time to take self-inventory.  On what did you build your foundation?  Money and things?  How do you identify yourself?  By the title in front of your name?  That’s dangerous.  Those are things that can be stripped away at a moment’s notice.  But those who seek the Kingdom of God first are planted in fertile ground…their lives built on the Rock.  The things that truly matter to them can never be taken away.  Their rewards are eternal.  “They will survive through hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough.

Make Psalm 37:18-19 your pray today.  Pray that this promise would be for you…that He would make you innocent through forgiveness, and that you would set your sights on rewards that will last forever.  That even in a recession, you would have more than enough.  Praise be to God!

Isaiah 63:17 – Lord, why have You allowed us to turn from Your path?  Why have You given us stubborn heart so we no longer fear You?  Return and help us, for we are Your servants and Your special possession.

How I love that verse.  God knows my tendency to wander off the path.  He’s never shocked at my stubborn heart.  How comforting to know that David, the great psalmist, had the same struggles.  But when we come to Him with a repentant heart, He is quick to welcome us back, and even to help us with obedience.  The thought that I am His special possession humbles me to my core.

Pray today that God would change you from the inside out.  That He would make His will and your will one and the same.  Then pray that He would guide your steps.  Thank Him that you are His special possession.  Let that truth effect everything you do and say today.

Psalm 25:4-5 – Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out the right road for me to follow.  Lead me by your truth and teach me, for You are the God who saves me.  All day long I put my hope in You.

Friends, these days, this is my daily prayer.  That God would show me the path where I should walk.  That He would boldly point out the right road for me to follow!  Don’t leave it to my guess-work, God, don’t trust me that much!  Reach your arm down from the heavens and point out the right road for me to follow.  I read Your Word, so that You will lead me by Your truth and teach me.  All day long I put my hope in the Lord.

There is so much uncertainty in the world today.  So many decisions to make.  I love this scripture, it makes me feel like I’m leaving nothing to chance!  I pray earnestly that God would point out the right road for you to follow today.  That you would be led by His truth, and that You would put your hope in Him all day long!  God bless you!
